MASBATE'S DIALECT



when traveling dialect is one of the important things to consider to avoid language barrier. so that you can still communicate even just a little word.....so here's simple word you need to remember when you are visiting the province of Masbate.


1. HAIN DIDI? - meaning SAAN DITO? / WHERE IS THE?
sample : hain didi an terminal? / saan dito yung terminal? / where is the terminal?


2. MAAYO NA AGA - meaning MAGANDANG UMAGA / GOOD MORNING
MAAYO NA HAPON - meaning MAGANDANG HAPON / GOOD AFTERNOON
MAAYO NA GAB-I - meaning MAGANDANG GABI / GOOD EVENING


3. MALAKAT KITA - meaning MAGLALAKAD TAYO / PASYAL / WHERE WALKING
sample: malakat kita pakadto sa pier / maglalakad tayo papuntang pier / where going to walk to reach pier


4. PAKADTO AKO DITO - meaning PAPUNTA AKO DUN / I'M GOING THERE
sample: makadto ako dito sa mercado / papunta ako sa mercado / i'm going to the market


5. PAKAIN KA?- meaning SAAN KA PAPUNTA? / WHERE ARE YOU GOING?
sample: pakain ka? kay maupod ako / saan ka pupunta?, kasi sasama ako / where are you going?, because i'm going with you.


6. NANO INI?- meaning ANU TO? / WHAT IS THIS?
sample: nano ini na baligya mo? / anu yang tinitinda mo? / what is that ? 


7. KAY NANU? - meaning BAKIT? / WHY?
sample: kay nanu kay urit ka? / bakit ka galit? / why are you mad?


8. NANO PANGARAN MO? - meaning ANU PANGALAN MO? / WHAT IS YOUR NAME?


9.  TAG PIRA INI? meaning - MAGKANO TO? / HOW MUCH IS THIS?
sample: tag pira ini kay mabakal ako / magkano ito kasi bibili ako / how much is this because i wanted to buy


10. MANAMIT - meaning MASARAP / DELICIOUS
sample: manamit ini na luto mo / ang sarap nitong luto mo / the food is delicious


11. MATAHUM - meaning MAGANDA / BEAUTIFUL
sample: katahum mo! / maganda ka! / you are beautiful!


12. MAKAON KITA - meaning KAIN TAYO / LET'S EAT
sample: kadi na makaraon na kita / halikana kain na tayo / let's go, let's eat


13. MABAKAL AKO- meaning BIBILI AKO / BUYING
sample: mabakal ako sani / bibili ako nito / i'm going to buy this


14. DAMO-DAMO NA SALAMAT - meaning MARAMING SALAMAT / THANK YOU
sample: damo-damo na salamat sa inyo tanan / maraming salamat sa inyong lahat / thank you very much to all


15. PALANGGA KO IKAW - meaning MAHAL KITA / I LOVE YOU
