Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House ( Century old house ), Cebu




Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House is located at 155-Lopez Jaena corner Mabini Street, Parian District in CebuPhilippines. a meters away from Colon Street, the oldest street in the Philippines. Considered to be one of the oldest residential houses in the Philippines, the Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House was built sometime between 1675 and 1700. It was originally owned by a Chinese merchant named Don Juan Yap and his wife, Doña Maria Florido. They had 3 children, namely, Maria, Eleuterio, and Consolacion Yap.


 It showcases some old and new artworks, life size statues, especially of the Sto. Niño, furniture’s made of “balayong”, “molave” and “narra “.the roof is made of "Tisa" clay which weight 1 kilogram in each piece. Most old items which are preserved here came from Carcar, Cebu. Believing that the Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House is part of Cebu’s history and heritage, Val preserved and carefully restored his ancestor’s home using coral stones glued with egg whites, molave, balayong and terracotta.  He also firmly stands never to sell the house no matter what the offer is.The house is filled with contemporary and ancient artworks, antique pieces and Cebuano-made native furniture. 



The Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House is open to the public everyday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. you can touch with utmost care all the antique and take photo inside the ancestral house. the
entrance fee is Php50/pax


HOW TO GET THERE??


From the down town you can just walk to reach the Yap-Sandiego Ancestral house. your landmark for this is the Parian Plaza the moment you reach Parian plaza a few steps to go to reach the ancestral house.

HOW TO GET TO TREASURE ISLAND, CALAPE BOHOL



Bohol is one of my favorite destination....Bohol has his uniqueness not just in there beautiful places but to its people ( the local's ) people in Bohol are very accommodating and kind. no wonder why Bohol has so many to offer for adventure seeker. you can't help yourself to love more the island of Bohol. ( keep updated on my post soon i will invade more the Island of Bohol )




HOW TO GET THERE?


---From Tubigon port ride a multi-cab going to Calape ( fare Php15 ) less than 20mins travel drop off at Calape public market. ( you can just buy some food stuff )
---From Calape public market ride a habal-habal or tricycle going to treasure island ( fare Php50/pax ) less than 15mins travel

---note:---
 In time's of going back to the main road just coordinate will  ( for the time ) to your driver-man to pick you up from the resort. you may try Mr. Jonathan Caballero 09356975650. he is the one accompany us to the resort. or you may just approach the resort staff  if you wanted to get back to the main road of Calape.

 I highly suggested to visit this place on high tide season or in good weather condition to enjoy more the beach and the scenery. If you are lucky enough their are some local's selling their freshly  pick seafood at the shore you can just approach them boholanon people are very warm and kind so no need to worry.


SIDE TRIP AT CALAPE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH


  Calape Roman Catholic church of Calape town, about 42 kms from capital Tagbilaran City, whose patron saints is San Vicente Ferrer, is a neo-gothic- inspired style, built in the 1800's. it celebrates its annual annual feast day on May 10. the town of Calape is named after type of rattan, called locally kapi or kalapi.

TRAVEL GUIDE: HOW TO GET TO HERMIT'S COVE, ALUGUINSAN CEBU


Aloguinsan is a fourth income class municipality in the province of CebuPhilippines. By road is 59 km (37 mi) southwest of Cebu City
This trip is instant a matter of few txt and go....with my best of friend Padit and cousin Jen. Cebu is my second home so the moment i visited here i'm always trying to reach the other side of Cebu's treasured beach. the first plan is explore the place of toledo ( why in toledo? because that's the place of my cousin ) but since we miss each other long talk conversation the night after the escaped so the result is puyat tagbaw og istorya since long talk carried us to late sleep. kaya hindi nagising ng maaga kaya the plan to explore toledo has been cancelled. so we processed to our second option to reach the hermit's cove of aluguinsan.  

so the escaped begun in riding a multicab / habal-habal to reach the destination ...but first we drop off at aluguinsan public market to buy some food stuff.

HOW TO GET THERE? EXPENSES? 

---From Cebu City ride a jeep going to south bus terminal fare Php7 ( if you are in the corner of elizabeth mall ( e-mall ) you can just walk to reach the south bus terminal )

---From south bus terminal ride a Bus ( fare Php70 ) or VAN ( fare php100 ) going to Toledo
  
---From Toledo ( poblacion ) Mercury drug store in-front of 7 eleven is your landmark ride a multi-cab direct to aluguinsan ( fare Php35/pax ) 45 min. travel

( OTHER OPTIONS )
---ride a tricycle to pinamungahan mercado ( fare Php25/pax ) ( i suggest to ride in a multi-cab for your convenient )

---drop off at pinamungahan mercado, From pinamungahan mercado ride a tricycle to aluguinsan public market ( fare php15/pax )

---drop off at aluguinsan public market, from aluguinsan market ride a habal-habal to reach the hermit's cove ( fare Php100/pax ) note: if you are two passenger you can divide the 100pesos fare for 50pesos each. but if you are only one passenger you will pay 100pesos for the fare one way.

---the driver will drop you off first at farm house for the tourist record proposes. ( travel time from habal-habal is 15-20 mins ) going to hermit's cove the road is slightly bumpy and rocky road.

---entrance fee Php100 with cottage

NOTE:

---at the beach no smoking and drinking policy
---if you come late here the staff will give you a consideration for just a few minutes to stay but at 6pm they are strictly close.
---the beach is close at 6pm
---no overnight at the beach
----get ready for your stamina because the hermit's cove has 88 steps to reach the beach area
---in getting a habal-habal driver make sure that you are fix or negotiate will with the rate because some driver take advantage ( i recommend Mr. Eumar Sulto for your habal-habal driver just contact him at 09334277446.




and after the long day of adventure we decided to take a few drinks at 7eleven convenience store and the rest are history ( long talk of laughter moments )
