Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House ( Century old house ), Cebu




Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House is located at 155-Lopez Jaena corner Mabini Street, Parian District in CebuPhilippines. a meters away from Colon Street, the oldest street in the Philippines. Considered to be one of the oldest residential houses in the Philippines, the Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House was built sometime between 1675 and 1700. It was originally owned by a Chinese merchant named Don Juan Yap and his wife, Doña Maria Florido. They had 3 children, namely, Maria, Eleuterio, and Consolacion Yap.


 It showcases some old and new artworks, life size statues, especially of the Sto. Niño, furniture’s made of “balayong”, “molave” and “narra “.the roof is made of "Tisa" clay which weight 1 kilogram in each piece. Most old items which are preserved here came from Carcar, Cebu. Believing that the Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House is part of Cebu’s history and heritage, Val preserved and carefully restored his ancestor’s home using coral stones glued with egg whites, molave, balayong and terracotta.  He also firmly stands never to sell the house no matter what the offer is.The house is filled with contemporary and ancient artworks, antique pieces and Cebuano-made native furniture. 



The Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House is open to the public everyday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. you can touch with utmost care all the antique and take photo inside the ancestral house. the
entrance fee is Php50/pax


HOW TO GET THERE??


From the down town you can just walk to reach the Yap-Sandiego Ancestral house. your landmark for this is the Parian Plaza the moment you reach Parian plaza a few steps to go to reach the ancestral house.
